It began with a website that works like eBay,

except instead of being a market place for goods,

It is a market place for good.

On the first day of December, an 11-year-old Sarasota girl named Stevie posted a wish on a new nonprofit website called Randomkid.org that has a by-line tucked beneath it that reads: The Power of ANYone. It's a place where children across the USA can post their wishes to make the world a better place. Businesses and individuals can register on-line to grant them.

December 12th will be Memorial Elementary's lucky day. It will also be Stevie's lucky day. On that day the director of Randomkid will be in Sarasota to present a brand new state-of-the-art ELMO overhead projector (a high tech item of choice by many corporations around the world) to Stevie, the very item she wished to be able to present to Memorial Elementary, a school that still struggles in the aftermath of hurricane Charlie.

Stevie wished for this projector for Memorial Elementary because it was the most coveted item on the holiday wish list of her teachers at Pine View School. Wrote Stevie on her Randomkid registration form, "I don't want those who suffered in hurricane Charlie to ever feel forgotten". Along with the surprise overhead projector, Stevie is delivering holiday gifts for all 930 kids at the school, loaded up in a big truck.

Stevie will be surprised at her school with full “ROCK STAR” treatment when it is announced that her wish has been granted. Stevie will be given sunglasses, a “Rock Star” t-shirt, an entourage and a limousine driver for the day. Double Eagle Limousine has generously donated their services.

"Our organization was developed to empower children to realize the infinite value of who they are right now,” said Ginther. “Kids have brilliant and generous ideas within them. RandomKid gives them the tools to make the most of their inspiration. We hope RandomKid will inspire a generation of leaders that knows how it feels to do the right thing."

"Our benefactor chose to remain anonymous because they wanted this day to be about Stevie and Memorial Elementary" added Ginther. "They are thrilled to be the first in what we hope will be a long line of benefactors who want to empower children to make the world a better place."

About Memorial Elementary and Pine View Schools:

In the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, Pine View School "adopted" Memorial Elementary and has helped them with a number of fundraising projects, providing shoes, backpacks and other needed supplies to their friends at Memorial who need it.

About RandomKid:

RandomKid's mission is to empower kids to realize the infinite value of who they are right now and their unique power to make the world a better place because of it. RandomKid is an Iowa non-profit company that was born out of a hurricane Katrina Relief effort by children who wanted to unify their fundraising totals. So far RandomKid has 4000 schools reporting over $5 Million dollars raised for various hurricane relief charities.

About Double Eagle Limousine:

They generously donated their services for this event. This premier limousine service is a member of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
