11 Million Smiles for East Africa

As a 13 year old girl, I feel so grateful for all the blessings that I have. Sometimes I ask myself why God gives so much to some people and barely anything to others, why some people enjoy life because they have so many commodities while others struggle just to survive one more day. I have recently read an article about the droughts in East Africa, and the extensive threat this is for the people, livestock, and their crops. More than 11 million people have been walking kilometers under the sun, trying to find water and food since the drought has killed most of their livestock and crops. And right at that moment, everything began to make sense. God gives more to others so we learn how to help and share what we have with the ones who have none. Here in Washington you hear people complain EVERYDAY about the rain, when there are people on the other side of the earth, who aren’t getting any rain at all. Since I can’t bring the clouds to them, I thought I could help from here. LETS ALL TURN 11 MILLION FROWNS UP SIDE DOWN! more

AIDS Fundraiser

Hi everyone! Did you know that AIDS affects about 1.2 million people in the United States? Although some can afford it, many can't afford it, and therefore, have a shorter lifespan. This fundraiser was created to raise money (our goal is $500.00) to provide medication and care for people with AIDS who cannot afford it. more

Brace Yourself For Hope: Helping AIDS orphans 1 bracelet at a time

"Brace Yourself For Hope: Helping AIDS orphans one bracelet at a time" is an organization that is raising money for two things we are passionate about- Children and AIDS. It is almost common knowledge that children in Africa are orphaned everyday by the growing epidemic of AIDS. We can't just sit by and hope that other people will make a change, but we need to see that cause and chage it ourselves. Every child needs hope in their lives and BYFH is giving that. more

Childhood Cancer: Every Kid A Hero

Small backpacks filled with kid friendly and/or camp related items can be sponsored for $300. Each Sponsor (or partial sponsor) gets to fill each bag in order to make it more personalized. Possible items may include: Disposable camera, small photo book (to put their pictures from camp in, of course!), craft kit, coloring supplies, artwork, a frisbee, hacky sacks, desserts, toys, etc. I am going to the school district, businesses, friends, and family for support with my project. The kids signed up for camp will get to keep the bags. It\'s simple, but fun and will bring as much a smile to your face as to the child receiving it. All the money raised will benefit The Blank Children\'s Hematology/Oncology Clinic by providing iPads that will stay in the clinic to help entertain and help keep patients calm. Hundreds of kids will have the opportunity to use them and will make their visit, a little more fun. more

H.E.A.T.

H.E.A.T Hello everyone, For those who are reading this and have never heard of us, we call ourselves H.E.A.T. That stands for Healthy, Eating, Active, Teens. Our goal is to help kids learn that getting active and eating right will help you in the long run. Heat would like to thank all of the people and businesses that helped us. We are very thankful for all of the generous donations that were made. For those who bought the vapor water bottles, we hope you are enjoying them. It has been a great thing to be involved in H.E.A.T. Thank you to those who bought vapor water bottles and those who donated money to our program. So, the good news for today is that H.E.A.T. gave $521 to the Healthy Living YMCA for kids programs. That money came from selling water bottles. We sold water bottles at local events. We held a garage sell last summer; we sold at lot things thanks to the people who brought stuff for us to sell. We would like to thank the Healthy Living YMCA for letting us sell the water bottles at the front door. We also thank you for letting us participate at Healthy Kids Day. We would like to thank Random Kids for all their help with the water bottles, we enjoyed selling them. We would also like to thank Tammy Mahan for putting up with us during our meetings. Also thank for helping us and making great lunches, plus driving us around. Next we would like to thank Melissa Foley for encouraging and helping us out. Thanks so much! Our last thanks is to those in our families who put up with all the meetings and events, we know that we don’t show it but we are pleased to have such great parents. So last we would like to encourage people and kids to think of way that they can help others out. It could be anything, feeding the poor, helping the homeless, or just making someone else’s live easier. Thanks again to everyone, H.E.A.T Rebekah Mahan: Team Leader Abby Hall: Vice Leader Alyssa Brookhart: Treasure Naorin Ashrafi: Secretary Lizzy Dowd: Organizer more

HappyTummies

I want to create a MOVEMENT of youth and kids all ages to make a visible dent in this problem. I am creating multiple plans on how we kids can raise money to feed our friends in East Africa. We might not be old enough to vote or drive, but we kids are old enough to save a life! Lets all give a child (just like us!) in East Africa the opportunity to live, laugh, and play! Like us on Facebook! Follow us on Twitter! Happy Tummies for East Africa! more
