Our IB students have been inspired by the work of the Nsumensa project to make a difference in this small village in Ghana. The project leader is Heather Bowden who has worked to revitalize the village through the establishment and funding of a school for 33 students, ages 3-13. This year we are fundraising to build a new school for the students. Some of their other goals include education that focuses on sustainable agricultural and conservation practices to better generate income from their farming (such as growing the nutritious Moringa plant), setting up rainwater catch systems on all of the villager's homes, and planting trees to help off set the deforestation of the rainforest. Long term goals include setting up solar panels, creating an art studio for villagers to take classes and to continue to support free education for the Nsumensa children. Project Description

We are seeking to support the Nsumensa project through the sale of environmentally friendly water bottles. We are also hoping to raise awareness in this project that was started by one young woman who studied abroad in Ghana in college and fell in love with the people. As she seeks to continue to make a difference we are looking to do our little part in supporting her efforts to provide education, clean water, and sustainable agriculture.
