Welcome! This project is all about helping kids with cancer! If you are interested in getting involved and wanting a profound way to make an impact on a child with cancer, join me in sending kids to summer camp for free! My name is Katelyn and I will be a senior in high school this fall. I have had the amazing opportunity of interacting and getting to know many kids with cancer this year through a program at school that has allowed me to shadow 3 days a week in the hospital. Through the program, I have discovered my passion: Childhood Cancer. These are some of the strongest, bravest, most determined kids I know, and each and every one of them are heroes. My goal is to raise $10,000 for these kids. The money will be divided between the Blank Children's Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic in Des Moines, Ia to purchase 6 iPads/tablets for the exam rooms to entertain kids and keep them occupied and to purchase toys for the kids to choose from after their procedures. The rest of the funds will go to the Children's Cancer Connection to help send these kids to camp to help normalize their lives, even if only a little bit, and to give them the opportunity to be around other kids just like them. With $10,000...I will be able to purchase 6 iPads for the Clinic that hundreds of kids, of any age, will get to use, and be able to send about 22 kids to camp. For every $300 we raise, we give a child an unforgettable experience at camp. No one deserves to endure the burden of cancer. I am asking you join the effort in sending these kids to camp that will no doubt be an unforgettable experience for them. In the face of cancer, these kids need something to look forward to, something to make life seem a little normal. Every child with cancer is a hero; having to endure the unthinkable.
