A vast region the size of Florida, where rain falls for only one or two months during the year, only half of the children reach their fifth birthday, and many simply die of thirst. Children, usually girls as young as 10 years old spend all their time searching for water for their family. Traveling as far as 35 miles in a day to reach a water source that is often turns out to be dried up, or muddy and contaminated, they have no time to attend school. But there is hope. Humanitarian organization Amman Imman: Water is Life is building a future for the children of the Azawak by supplying permanent sources of water to the region. You can help!

Get sponsors, raise funds and walk in solidarity for the children of the Azawak’s 35 mile walk for water. 4) Set an athletic goal, and use your skills to raise funds through an Amman-a-thon, a fitness fundraiser you can do on your own or with your whole class. 5) Use your ingenuity and creativity to stage your own event - organize a car wash, sell lemonade, make crafts, etc. – have fun while making a difference for the people of the Azawak. 6) Choose a RandomKid ideastarter and start raising funds today!
