Wheels for Wells

I am 13 years old and am in 8th grade. I am using social networking to raise money for a well to be installed in Africa. I want to keep girls in school and reduce water related diseases. Help me spread the word by liking/sharing my Facebook page and making a donation. If we all contribute a little bit, it adds up to an awful lot! Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please email me at wheelsforwellsafrica@gmail.com more

Wipe up Sandy's Mess

I am planning to raise money through Architecture for Humanity so I can provide them the resources to build the homes. Each house will cost at least $10,000 to rebuild (not including household items) with the FEMA insurance provided to the families of the East Coast. I want to sell toilet paper (yes toilet paper!) to the public so the money can go to benefit the cause. About 90% of the money will go to building houses for the families of Hurricane Sandy. Thanks for your support! Our slogan is: Wipe up Sandy's Mess! more

Women LEAD

Our programs empower young women to be leaders by providing them with leadership training, skills-building, mentoring, and a peer-support network. The intensive 12 month LEAD program launches with a two-week Leadership Institute where students gain knowledge on issues such as women’s rights and acquire professional skills such as public speaking. They learn from and engage with Nepali female leaders who come in as guest speakers. They learn leadership theory and practice through seminars, workshops and political and service learning trips. Throughout the academic year, participants are paired with a mentor, stay engaged though social media, and continue building their skills and self-awareness through experiential learning in 1 of 3 programs: 1) Internships: Students intern with NGOs to build professional skills and gain experience. 2) Social Entrepreneurship: Students design and lead their own social venture in teams of 4-5, receiving training, guidance and $250 to launch a project in response to a community need. One team is currently working on a recycling project. 3) School LEADership: Students are trained to facilitate weekly leadership workshops for 30 middle school students in their own schools. 10 students are currently facilitating workshops for 130 middle-school students (girls and boys) about issues affecting their lives, such as bullying, parental pressure, and relationships. more

Write On!

If you chose to join Write On! you don't have to leave your house. In fact, all you have to do, is send a journal to someone. Not just a kid or an adult. It could be a criminal on death row, or a kid dying in the hospital. I am open to suggestions...but I have many ideas such as: writing inspirational notes in the journals, creating a website where people can post short stories, this could be amazing or a failure. I'm flexible, so this is your chance to put your own ideas into actions. I believe writing can change lives....let's make it happen! more

Youth Inspire

Finding motivation is tough. For teens all around the globe stricken with cancer, it seems as if a long and arduous path to recovery lies ahead. However, we’re here to change that. If you’re a teen who has been diagnosed with cancer, know that you are certainly not alone. At Youth Inspire, we’ve created a vision for the connection and motivation of our youth. With a global movement of peer-to-peer support and love, teen cancer patients can receive the necessary stimulus to continue the fight, and grace the path to recovery. What better way to inspire youth than through motivation by fellow peers? Ones who are not only caring – but truly understand the difficult situations teens are placed in everyday. Established originally as a local organization, Youth Inspire has rapidly increased to a large network with a global impact. Our premier program, “Teens Helping Teens”, has evolved into a growing movement of support and encouragement. Through contact with charitable organizations, the “Teens Helping Teens” program involves youth all around the world being photographed with our signature Youth Inspire sign. In return for each photograph taken, multiple organizations donate $1 to help teens deal with cancer, along with cancer research in general. Overall, Youth Inspire is more than a charity, or a non-profit. Youth Inspire is a network. One of communication, love, help, and support. By uniting the youth of the globe, we can work to create a better future for each individual. more
